This past weekend, 25 female gymnasts from Okanagan Gymnastics Centre competed in the Richmond Oval at the annual Delta Invitational, which is one of the largest events in the province.

Okanagan Gymnastics Centre brought home eight gold medals for their work throughout the weekend.

The centre had one all-around gold medalist. Shiphra Penner was the all-around champion in the Jo 7 Youth Category, placing first on Bars, Beam and the Floor exercise. She achieved an overall score of 37.150.

Noora Tanha placed 3rd overall in the Level 3 child category, finishing first on vault and floor. Leila Turner placed 3rd on bars, while Zoe Burnett placed 3rd on vault. Taya Renou’s best performance was on the balance beam, finishing in 7th place on that event.

In the Level 4 category, Elisa Schoen finished 5th overall with a bronze medal on the bars. Brielle Leach finished 6th on bars, while Madison Parnell finished 6th on beam. Payton Anderson’s best performance was on the balance beam, finishing in 7th place on that event.

Lexie Crawford represented OGC in the Jo5 Category. She finished with an 8th place on vault, 9th place on Floor and 10th place on bars.

Katie Flaton finished 3rd overall in the Level 6 category. Flaton earned a bronze medal on beam, while placing 4th on bars, 5th on floor and 6th on vault. Also, in the Level 6 category, Haylee Vansteinburg earned a bronze medal on vault, placing 6th overall.  

In the Level 7 competition, Shiphra Penner dominated the youth category by winning first place on bars, beam and floor, as well in the all-around in a category of 15 athletes. In this same category, Sydney Ortynski tied for 1st on beam and 1st on vault.

In the Level 7 Jr. category Morgan Clark finished with a 1st on vault and the floor exercise.

Milani Ritchie competed in the Aspire 1 category where she finished in third place on beam and floor.

In the highest level of girl’s competition, the athletes were in a category of 35 athletes all vying for their chance at some cash prizes.

Gabriela Beselt finished in second place for her performance on the balance beam and finished 5th overall. Amanda Jaggard finished 18th overall after earning 8th on floor. Kyleigh Crawford’s best event was on the bars, while Natalia Simeunovic’s best performance was on the balance beam

The women’s Level 2 athletes showed off their skills in a performance category earning gold, silver or bronze depending on their scores.
