Robert Bitte and Leah Schmidt’s commitment to their lottery numbers has finally paid off.

The Summerland couple has used the same numbers to play Lotto Max for seven years and on May 1, they matched six of those numbers and the bonus to win a cool $1,052,328.10.

“I started playing Lotto Max seven years ago,” says Bitte. “I picked seven random numbers and have stuck with them since.”

He says now that they’ve won a major prize, he’ll be picking a new set of seven numbers for Lotto Max draws going forward.

On the night of the draw, they were at home and decided to check the numbers right before Schmidt was preparing to leave on a hike.

Suddenly, she heard commotion from her husband and quickly found out the good news.

“He started yelling and I was thinking to myself, ‘what is happening?’ I thought he was lying to me,” Schmidt explained.

With so much to do outdoors in Summerland, the married couple plans to use their winnings on a couple of luxury purchases like an electric mountain bike and new kayak.
