The 5th annual Kelowna Collectables Show took place Sunday morning at the Sandman Hotel and it was heaven for both comic book and hockey lovers alike.

The event opened its doors at 11 a.m. Sunday morning but by 10:30 there was already a line up down the hall filled with excited attendees. The shows happen twice annually, once at the end of May and again at the end of July featuring items anywhere from vintage hockey cards to action figures.

Collectors from far and wide gathered in Kelowna with their vast collections of new and vintage comic books as well as memorabilia to pass on to a new generation. Some of the collectors had hundreds, maybe even thousands of vintage comic books. "I have been collecting since I was 10 years old," said Comical Bob, one of the vendors with the largest number of comics, "My favorites are the old Horror Comics from the 60s and 70s".

It wasn't all comic related, many hockey fans had brought their most prized memorabilia from original rookie cards of some of the most famous hockey players to Wayne Gretzky endorsed cereal boxes, they had something from every era for everyone. Sci-fi lovers enjoyed the event as many vendors had mint condition Star Wars artifacts such as a miniature replica of the millennium Falcon and action figures from the original movies all the way to the most recent, they were also giving away a Star Wars card to the first 100 attendees.

This event wasn't just about collectors selling to collectors. Many up and coming comic artists were there selling original comics as well as many vendors selling their handmade creations based off of iconic and loved characters.
