Northern B.C. residents will need to make an hourly wage of $16.51 to cover all necessary costs.

According to Living Wage Canada, this wage will cover costs of child care, transportation, food and rent.

The living wage is determined by calculating the amount a family of four needs to earn and meet most expenses.

It does not include debt repayment or savings for future plans.

Since last year, the living wage in the north has increased by 12 cents.

Though a high living wage, the North Central Region has the lowest necessary wage when compared to other B.C. locations.

Vancouver currently has the highest living wage at $20.91 an hour.
