The West Kelowna Warriors’ newest recruit is between the pipes.

Evan Fradette, 18, has committed to the team in advance of the 2018-19 season.

He’s spent the past two years developing his game with the St. Alberta Raiders of the Alberta Midget Hockey League and took home multiple awards this past season.

“Evan is coming off a tremendous season and we look forward to continuing his development here”, said Brandon West, Warriors GM and head coach.

“His attitude and dedication to the position is what I really like about him. He wants to be in the net and give his team a chance to win every game.”

Although Fradette was drafted in the fifth round of the WHL bantam draft by the Portland Winterhawks, he’s chosen to forego that route and play in the BCHL.

It’ll allow him to play college hockey in the United States following the 2019-20 season if he chooses.

“I have heard nothing but good things about the BCHL,” stated Fradette. “West Kelowna is a beautiful place to live and it’s always been circled on my list of potential teams.”

If fans are wondering what to expect from the 6’3”, 200lbs goalie, he says he models his game after Los Angeles Kings’ goaltender Jonathan Quick, which is certainly an exciting thought.
