    Monday Smoke, weather, and air quality forecast

    The current Air Quality Health index shows the Central Okanagan at low risk currently but is expected to increase to moderate as the day goes on.

    There is a slight haze over  Kelowna this morning, and our air quality is at a two, or low risk, right now, meaning it is safe to enjoy any outdoor activities you may have planned for Labour day.

    There is still  a bit of smoke covering the Okanagan today, but tomorrow is expected to be far worse according to the forecast, keeping in mind that smoke concentrations will vary widely as winds, fire behaviour and temperatures change.

    Smoke forecasts for Tuesday, September 5th, are heavy for the B.C. interior, as shown in the smoky skies map below.

    The Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Strategy, in collaboration with the Interior and Northern Health Authorities has continued the Smoky Skies Bulletin that was last updated on Friday, September 1st, due to changing smoke conditions.
