After a hard-fought campaign on behalf of the Liberal Party in the Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola riding, candidate Mary Ann Murphy is feeling good about her accomplishments over the last six weeks. 

“I am really proud of the campaign we ran,” beamed Murphy at her results party held at the 19 Okanagan Bar + Grill in West Kelowna on Monday night.

“We have been thorough and effective, we reached every corner of the riding and I have personally knocked on nearly 10,000 doors.” 

“I actually have a bruised knuckle,” she laughed. 

While the local polls may not have shown the results she had hoped for, Murphy told NowMedia she is thankful to have been able to connect with residents and extends her congratulations to Conservative MP’s Dan Albas and Tracy Gray.

“It is a bit of a blue wave in the Okanagan at large and we will have to see what that means,” said Murphy. “I look forward to their suggestions for moving forward some action on the matters we learned about from residents on climate change, water, biodiversity and many of the social issues.”

Although the Liberal party did not paint the Okanagan red, Prime Minister Trudeau earned another four years in office, which did bring Murphy and her constituents joy.

“We couldn’t have done much more and we are just so thankful to everyone in the region who answered the door for us and shared what was on their mind,” said Murphy. 

“I look forward to seeing all of the advances on these issues for the residents in our riding and my thanks go out to my team and constituents.”

Trudeau's Liberals earned 157 seats across Canada and will form a minority government.
