A Victoria man was arrested at gunpoint outside of Victoria High School at 11 a.m. this morning. 

According to police, a teacher had spoken with a man who was allegedly consuming drugs on the stairs that lead into Victoria High School grounds

The man confronted the teacher and brandished a knife. The teacher was not physically injured.

As officers made their way to the area the man left the scene and entered a nearby business.

By the time officers arrived, the man was leaving the business was approached by police.

He initially refused to show his hands to the officers and began reaching for something behind his back.

Officers drew their service pistols and were eventually able to de-escalate the incident.

The man has been taken into custody and an investigation is underway.
