A magnitude-4.2 earthquake rattled the coast late Sunday night.

According to Earthquakes Canada, the tremor happened 68 kilometres northwest of Prince Rupert at 10:57 pm on Sunday.

The epicentre was essentially located on the border of British Columbia and Alaska.

It had a depth of 10 kilometres.

“There are no reports of damage and none would be expected,” explained Earthquakes Canada.

While there is no damage to speak of, 27 people have reported to Earthquakes Canada that they felt the ground shake.

More than half of them labelled it as two out of 10 intensity, considered “weak” shaking, while 10 others identified it as a three or four out of 10.

One person reported five out of 10 intensity, which is considered “moderate” shaking.
