The Lower Similkameen Indian Band is decrying the killing of several deer near Cawston
On Tuesday, the First Nation said it was “greatly angered” after receiving reports of up to seven deer being found shot but not harvested.
The band believes the deer were shot at night, which is prohibited across BC.

“There are no exceptions on smelqmix-syilx lands. None,” the LSIB said in a news release.
“The animal must not be taken for granted, nor its gift of sustenance go unused.”
According to the news release, the LSIB’s chief, councillors, natural resources department and emergency program are shifting tactics and resources to eliminate this from happening again.
Other agencies have also been advised.
The LSIB asks anyone who sees or hears shooting in low-light hours or overnight to call the LSIB’s 24-hour duty officer line at 877-418-4631.
