A Prince George resident has created a rideshare program that will take people to and from the Mackenzie area.

Rothel used to live in Mackenzie and understands how difficult it is for locals to get around.
“Not a lot of people in Mackenzie have a driver’s license so they can’t get places. A lot also can’t afford to take other transit systems,” said Rothel.
“I figure if I am coming here anyways for work and going back, I might as well help.”
Rothel will typically charge her travel companions $20 to cover some of the gas, however, she understands that money may be tight for some and is willing to make exceptions.
Since Rothel started publically offering transit services, she has driven over 60 people.
“I come up every weekend and almost every time I come up to Mackenzie I give someone a ride,” says Rothel.
“Hitchhiking is not always a safe option.”

According to Rothel, the car ride can be a little hectic at times as it will almost always include her three-year-old, a new puppy and a two-hour musical featuring Rothel herself.
But if you are up for an adventure, a new friend and a cheap ride, Rothel offers a safe and reliable option.
