A local mother is helping families in the community through the creation of a donation page that allows people to share their gently used baby items with those who need it most.

Paige Langille has been collecting baby items on her Facebook page, New Beginnings Helping Hands, since January.

This 22-year-old mom knows what it was like to be in dire need of items.

“I got sick during pregnancy and couldn’t work. My family got me what I needed before my daughter was born,” said Langille.

“After she was born I saw posts from low-income families saying they had troubles making ends meet. They didn’t have the option of family like I did.”

Langille saw the need to help others and started packing and donating her daughter's belongings when she grew out of them.

“I started the page and shared it and it has gotten a wonderful response,” said Langille.

The page works by direct messaging Langille with a request for an item. Langille will then post on the page asking the community if they have it.

Once she receives the item, she will arrange a pickup or drop off time.

Langille said she is overwhelmed by clothing and toys and is right now focusing on finding larger items like highchairs and strollers.

According got Langille, if she holds onto an item for an extended period of time, she will donate it back to the community to programs such as the Elizabeth Fry Society or Value Village.
