  • Local Father’s Day Gift and Activity Guide

When people ask me how I manage to work full time, run a successful Instagram influencing platform, blog our travels for the BC Bucket List Family, volunteer, and still have time to stay sane, I feel slightly ashamed. All those things make me sound like such a superhero and yet I could never accomplish even a fraction of these ventures without my support team. I mentioned in my local Mother’s Day gift guide how important my mother and mother-in-law are and now it’s time to give tribute to the dads in my life.

Pops and Papa, as my boys call them, have always been pillars of strength and support for me. The relationship they’ve nurtured with my boys makes my heart swell with pride and it is their example that raised my husband, my ultimate encourager, uplifter, and ultimately the one to tell me when enough is enough, which I often need. Now, I watch this legacy of kind and nurturing men being passed down to the fourth generation and realize that this is the richest inheritance that my sons could ever stand to gain.

Here are my local suggestions for blessing dad and thanking him for his sacrifices, his time, and his love.

    Father’s Day Photo Shoot

We have incredibly talented photographers here in the Okanagan and insanely picturesque landscapes for family portraits. Audrey Mills from @audreymillsphotography is originally from Ontario and has made Kelowna her home. She began photography at only 15 years old and was immediately inundated with wedding requests. Her talent speaks volumes about her success and we had so much fun during this family shoot with her guidance and expertise. Mills has been published on several notable platforms such as Popsugar and Yahoo Life! Book a Father’s Day session to commemorate dad this year.

    Local Gift Boxes

Everytime I ask my dad for a gift suggestion the answer is always the same. First a pained expression as if thinking of something he could want is strenuous. (In contrast, my mom will hand you a pre-made list). Second comes the humming and hawing until at last he assures me that there’s nothing he needs. With a frustrated push, I ask him to reconsider and ultimately the answer will be socks or something else practical or boring. In my experience, dads just don’t know what they want or need until you give it to them. Beloved and Bespoke Gift Boxes is the stress-free answer to the sock conundrum. They lovingly curate a beautiful box of goods that can be customized as well. Their flagship gifts are beautifully crafted charcuterie boards and BBQ scrapers. Order through @belovedandbespokegiftboxes.
