  • Live it Now: Dreams

    Hello friends!

So much to share, but I’m holding out until I can wrap my heart around all the joy and anticipation I’m feeling. Let’s just say I’m over the moon and giggling happily on cloud nine!

When we talk about dreams… not the sleeping ones, the ones that make you sit up a little straighter, walk a little taller and smile way more!

Goals are goals, you set them, they are attainable if you’re being realistic and honest with yourself.

Dreams, however, are a bit loftier and much bigger.

I know many people who have dream boards that manifest life changing events like buying your first home, owning your own business, travelling the world, moving to another country, going back to school later in life etc.

Like I said, I know many people who have truly followed their dreams and are blissfully happy most of the time because of the hard work they put into bringing those dreams to reality.

In the words of the amazing Martin Luther King Jr. "I had a dream"… truly, truly profound. His dream ignited a global revolution of equality.

Locally, a man named Al Patel is just as expectational in my opinion. I was fortunate enough to be a plus one with a beautiful friend to Mr. Patel’s fundraiser dinner.

His story… 'everyone has one’… touched me. He is proof that one-person CAN and does make a difference.

Because of his dream, and his unrelenting fundraising efforts through his ICCHA WISH FOUNDATION, our Royal Inland Hospital continues to receive essential life-saving equipment. Cardiac care unit is up next!

All that being said, my dreams are not nearly as colossal! But I am so inspired by people who follow through, show up and make it happen.

Twenty years ago I put a dream in a jar, plunked it up at the back of a top shelf and it just sat their collecting dust, being forgotten.

Sometimes, life unfolds itself in unexpected ways. A door flies open and you literally stumble through it without fear… arriving exactly where you’re meant to be… but had somehow misplaced the tattered map to getting there. Yet here you are!

Again, nothing profoundly life changing for anyone but me really, although I do hope to touch some of you along the way… a wee ripple effect in your day, week or month that helps you feel a bit better.

If we share that kindness just a little through a nod to a waiting pedestrian, a smile to someone who needs it, holding the door for a stranger or a non-judgemental look of love towards someone struggling knowing that they too have a story… maybe they had a dream that needs to be polished up to inspire their heart to find themselves again.

Life… kind of wows me at times, staggers my heart and reminds me … it’s always been waiting for me… Live it now!
