Just 24 hours after giving up a late goal before losing in a shootout to the Victoria Grizzlies, the West Kelowna Warriors had troubles late in a game once again.

This time, a goal from Joshua Bourne with 21 seconds left in the third period led the Nanaimo Clippers to a 3-2 win over the Warriors, who drop to 0-1-0-1 on their current three-game road trip.

After Nanaimo scored the only goal of the opening frame, West Kelowna bounced back with a strong second period to take the lead.

That happened thanks to a shorthanded goal from John Evans, who’s been on fire of late, and another marker courtesy of Levi Stauber.

That 2-1 lead would evaporate about eight-and-a-half minutes into the third when MacKenzie Merriman scored for the Clippers, paving the way for Bourne’s late-game heroics

Johnny Derrick made 26 saves in the loss, while Jordan Naylor got the win for Nanaimo with a 21 save performance.

The Warriors finish their three-game island road trip in Port Albert tonight as they take on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
