  • KWIC has two impressive out of town weekend showings

    KWIC has two big meets over the last couple weeks. KWIC has had a busy few weeks, with two big meets taking up their weekends.

    Four swimmers attended the Canadian Trials in Edmonton, Alberta with Axana Merckx making the final in 400 IM. Molly Hill, Andrea Kraetzer and Patrick Waters also had strong swims at the meet.

     This past weekend KWIC sent nine swimmers to the Canadian Junior Nationals held in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The small team placed 20th out of 146 teams and swam to 14 best times.

    Andrea Kraetzer was the only medal winner, standing at the top of the podium winning GOLD in the 50 free.

    She also had the highest points for the team with 74 making finals in the 100 free and 200 breast. She also broke two of her own club records in the 50 and 100 free and swam to best times in all those events.

    Axana Merckx swam to 50 points making finals in 200 and 400 IM, 100 and 200 breast. Merckx also swam to best times in the 100 and 200 breast.

    Erin Epp swam to 33 points for the team and made finals in the 200 and 400 IM, 100 breast and 50 free. Epp swam to best time in the 50 free.

    The Girls MEDLEY relay consisting of Merckx (back), Epp (breast), Hill (fly) and Kraetzer (free) saw KWIC placing 8th .

    Nathaniel Hees swam to 100% best times and took 8 seconds off his 800 free and Georgia Pengilly swam to a best time in 100 back. Others who had strong swims were Taylor Smith, Matthew MacDonald and Harold Yick.
