  • Kelowna winery celebrating their 25th anniversary

One of Kelowna’s first wineries is celebrating its 25 year anniversary this year.

In fact, House of Rose Winery was one of the first 20 to pop up in British Columbia, a number that has skyrocketed to more than 250 in the last quarter century.

It was long known for its founder, Vern Rose, a great character who was loved by customers for his wit and passion for wine.

Now, the winery is run by his daughter, Aura Rose, who says “it’s hard to believe that 25 years have passed since my father started this winery.”

“At that time the wine business was a tiny part of tourism and the economy of this community. We’ve seen huge changes!”

What hasn’t changed is the winery’s down to earth, friendly approach, which they are showcasing with a celebration this weekend.

The House of Rose 25th Anniversary Party will run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be live music from The Niki Martinus Project, free caricatures from Monte Barwick, balloon designs by Jeff the Balloon Guy, an art table, cake and more.

You can get more information on the House of Rose Winery website.
