With all that is going on, we anticipate the need for Kelowna Santas to be even greater this year. More people have been suffering from financial distress this year and the holiday season really adds to that stress level. 

The current health crisis not only increases the needs of families suffering from financial distress, but it also increases the challenges to deliver this community initiative that has now been running for eight years (a grassroots, volunteer initiative that strives to provide a better Christmas for less fortunate children that live in the areas of Lake Country, Kelowna and West Kelowna). 

Which brings us to you and what the community needs are. 

First of all, for the families in need, please use this link to register. 

The registration deadline is Dec. 15, 2020. 

Last year we wrapped and delivered toys to over 1,500 children from the families who registered in the Central Okanagan.  
 

But where do the gifts come from?

They're delivered to the drop locations at local businesses.

We will be working hard to figure out wrapping and delivery while adhering to the current health protocols – so we'll need volunteers to help out.

Lastly, we need ideas on how we can wrap and deliver. 

How do we hold the wrap party – which usually has over 100 volunteers wrapping and prepping the sleigh?

Do we ask the firefighters to garb up in their hazmat gear (that may be a bad idea), or do we ask for fewer volunteers with bigger commitments and very strict protocols to protect the volunteers?

Again the need is strong – and the ways to help are many… if you have a suggestion that will help deserving families receive gifts for their children on Christmas, we would love to hear it.
