A section of Ellis Street will have a new bike lane by the end of next week and it’ll be a part of the final pavement management work of 2019 in Kelowna.
It’ll take place on Ellis between Roanoke Avenue and Broadway Avenue, with the repaving expected to be complete by Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Line marking will follow shortly after that to accommodate new bike lanes on both sides of the street.
When all is finished, the width of pavement on this section of Ellis will be increased.
“While work is underway, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, as short-term lane closures or detours will be in effect,” says a release from the City of Kelowna.
“For public safety and quality control, traffic control personnel will direct motorists to temporarily stay off newly paved road segments.”
This roadwork is the final part of this year’s $3.5-million pavement management program, which saw 40 lane kilometres of roads repaved throughout 2019.
