Kelowna’s very own rowing club showcased impressive efforts at the B.C. Championships in Victoria last weekend where 12 teams from across the province competed.

Athletes Nicole Samuelson and Jocelyn Carmichael were just 1.8 seconds shy of placing 3rd in the Women's under 19 double final where they would’ve been chosen to represent B.C. at the Canada Summer Games.

Instead, the hometown Victoria City Rowing club will do the honours.

Also doing Kelowna proud was Clair Benade and Toni Vandenbrink, who placed 5th in the B final of the Women’s Open double, as well as Ethan Frigon who participated in the Men’s Open Single event.

The four local female athletes also competed in the Women’s Open quad event, finishing in 5th place.

Congratulations athletes, you made Kelowna proud!
