What is your name?
Trevor Lutes.
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I was born in Burnaby and raised in Cranbrook. This is my second time living in Kelowna, as I just recently moved from Prince George last September.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
I love spending time with wife, Naomi, as we always get things done. Whether it's in the yard or renovating the house, we accomplish a lot together.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Disneyland, my family loves it there!
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Mission Sports. Both my kids play hockey and spend a lot of time there, the staff are great.
What is your favourite activity?
Golf.
If you had to choose: pizza, tacos, or burgers?
Pizza!
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Volunteering for the Special Olympics and seeing the pure joy of the participants.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Travelling in our motorhome for vacations.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I coach soccer and basketball, I also managed my daughter’s hockey team. I was involved with a health care foundation in Prince George and may do something here as well.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
No one going to bed hungry.
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Dining out, there are so many great restaurants to choose from.
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Downtown, I would just walk around and people watch.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Downtown Parking, it affects local business when customers have a tough time parking to get into their stores.
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The climate and scenery.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Go to a world cup game.
2. Cruise the Mediterranean.
3. Golf Augusta.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I almost lost my leg in a soccer injury.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Roynat Capital.
Why did you get into/start this business?
I spent 23 years in retail and small business banking. This opportunity allowed me to challenge myself in a different way.
What is the goal of your business?
I create flexible, customized financing solutions to help maximize the potential of our business partners.
What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
I try to make everyone happy and have a tough time saying no.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Same, for sure.
What do you always find yourself saying?
'So…'
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Barack Obama. The day would include golf, some basketball and some very interesting conversations. He seems like a very positive person that likes to be active and would have some great stories.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It is important so we can continue to grow local businesses and provide opportunities for locals to make a living working for these businesses.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My family. From meeting my wife, to our two wonderful children, there have been no better accomplishments for me.
