  • In Focus | Terry Lynds

Meet Terry, he was born in Kamloops and aside from 10 years after high school, he has lived here his whole life. Terry is a realtor in Kamloops and his company is dedicated to helping people find their dream home.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My wife Katherine. We are both so busy so I don't really need a reason just to be able to be with her and our dog Gili. It is all I need at the end of the day.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
I love Terra Restaurant. David and Andrea embody everything I love about Kamloops, they are so generous with their time and give back to the community, like few other businesses I know. Their food is pretty deadly as well.

    Describe yourself in one word.
    Strategic

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Gili Islands to catch a sunset and chill.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
I love grilling food and hosting people at our house.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
My dad was diagnosed with ALS in July 2012. The way he handled his disease was nothing short of an inspiration. My dad never complained once. He handled his destiny with strength and courage, it will always be an inspiration. To further add to that, my mom has grown so much since then. Lastly, all the friends and family that supported us throughout the process are amazing and inspirational. I will never forget that journey.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Travelling with my family would be up there. We were the lone wolves so to speak out here in BC. We would drive back to Manitoba at least once a year summer or winter to visit. My parents would drive non-stop sometimes and just power through it and other times visit great family friends along the way. I miss those trips and can't wait to do the same with my family someday.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
Currently, I volunteer with Kamloops Hospice on their fundraising committee and also work closely with the ALS Walk in Kamloops and support anything aligned with ALS BC.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
    1a) Clean water for everyone.
    1b) Shoes for everyone.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
    My yard.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
I would love to see the City of Kamloops take more notice of the infrastructure in Barnhartvale.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
    The people of Kamloops.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?

    3. Motorhome throughout Canada

Call me.. or Facebook, Insta and Linkedin

What is the name of your business/organization?

    Balance

What do you always find yourself saying?

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
    Travel early and travel often.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
    Tim Ferriss.

If you know of Tim Ferriss you will understand this selection.
If you do not know Tim Ferriss check out his podcast or books and you will understand this selection.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
We are a small community and the more we can support and educate on the amazing local products the stronger we will be as a community. We always talk about the "lack of.." in Kamloops. Supporting local helps breed an awesome community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I have been recognized on several occasions for my volunteer time in Kamloops. I am proud to give to and support Kamloops and encourage everyone to give back a little – it's what makes Kamloops great.
