Meet Tabatha. Tabatha has lived in many places prior to moving to Kelowna and has been living here for sixteen years now!

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I am from all over but lived in Kelowna for about 16 years now.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My wife, My daughter, my dogs.
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
There are so many to choose from, Kelowna has really stepped with quality local shopping!
Describe yourself in one word.
Dreamer
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Diving in the tropical oceans.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
We love cruiser biking spring & summers and Big white winters.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
To name 1 and there's many, When I was in grade 5 or 6 I did an air band to "oh Mickey your so fine" It was recorded onto a tape and their stereo system ate the tape and completely stopped mid-song. I didn't know what to do and ran off the stage in tears.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
The most inspiring thing that has happened to me?? Again not just one… I would say watching my daughter grow into an amazingly beautiful woman & human being in spite of having her so young. I did it!
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
When my sister and I were kids and we couldn't find each-other we would yell this loud sound that mimicked a whistle back and forth until we found each other. I couldn't whistle, I still can't so we made up a fake whistle. We still do it sometimes. HaHa

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
We like to anonymously donate to the SPCA and other animal shelters in the city, At Christmas, the business will sponsor a family.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Save all the animals from human cruelty.
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Osoyoos is always amazing for a quick getaway and walking the greenway.
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Kelowna is a small town with a big city mentality. There are a lot of entrepreneurs here and we all lift each other up and support one another. Something that tends to be overlooked in the bigger cities.

Travel Europe with my Daughter and my Wife for 3 months

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I had my daughter when I was 16.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)

What is the name of your business/organization?
Mod Salon Inc. / Mod salon Inc & Style Bar
Why did you get into/start this business?
I have always had a passion for hair and fashion! It was only logical to keep taking my career to the next levels. And I'm not stopping here.

What is the goal of your business?
The goal of my business is to bring highly talented stylists and a high-end professional experience to this growing town. Also creating a culture for my team to flourish both personally and professionally. We are a family and supporting one another is key.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
My biggest struggle? Ha, There isn't just one that's for sure! But one that comes to mind is to not take things personally.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I wouldn't change a thing.
What do you always find yourself saying?
"Mmmm…I'm gonna drink champagne"
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Don't forget to love your self and take care of yourself. If you're at your best then you can be at your best for those you love.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My family.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
When you shop local around 70% off that money goes back into the community! When you shop big box brands aprox 4% of that money goes back into the community. Shopping local creates for a healthy local economy.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My Daughter.

My sister Kristina!!! She will be joining us here in Kelowna with her business this summer! Her plant-based restaurant Kb&co is opening locations all over Canada including Kelowna!
