Meet Kenzie. She was born in Surrey but has lived in Prince George most of her life.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My boyfriend, Ryley! I love spending time with him because we both like being outside, exploring and fishing.
What is your favourite local store in Prince George and why?
I consider tattoo shops to be local, so I would choose The Wandering Panda. The customer service is amazing and I am always satisfied with my new art when I leave. I have always had an awesome experience there and all the artists put pride in their work.
Describe yourself in one word.
Positive.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Kitimat! So I could be on the river fishing.
What is your favourite activity in Prince George?
Anything outdoors! Fishing and exploring back roads are my favourite.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Nothing in particular, but I am super clumsy and always tripping or rolling an ankle. I have learned to deal with my embarrassment by laughing it off.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
As an amateur photographer, I got the opportunity to do the Santa photos at Bosley's. That opened up a world of confidence and inspiration for me!
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
When I was young my grandparents took me to a cabin on a lake for a few nights. That was my first fishing trip. I remember turning away whenever a fish was caught because my grandpa would bonk it on the head and at the time I couldn't watch. However many years later I have no problem doing this and having a tasty dinner!
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I have been looking into different ways of volunteering and while right now I don't, I want to start volunteering at the Spruce City Wildlife Association! I also want to team up with local rescues and photograph the animals to help give them a personality outside of the shelter and give each animal more of a chance of being adopted.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
The amount of garbage and litter that is in the oceans and rivers! It is a cycle that hurts the entire ecosystem.
Where would you sneak away to in Prince George to spend some time alone?
In the woods, on a lake.
Where would you like to see positive change in Prince George and why?
The overall positive outlook of Prince George. People focus more on the negative when it should be positive that has the focus!
What do you think makes Prince George great?
The number of things to do so close to the city! Drive 10 minutes any direction and you end up somewhere beautiful.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. I want to do a full summer fishing trip all over British Columbia. No work, just fishing.
2. While I am on this awesome fishing trip, I want to explore some super cool places and document them with photos.
3. Master astrophotography. I have tried and tried but just can't get it right! Maybe one day.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I had two house trained pot bellied pigs named Baby Chicken and Joey.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Mostly Facebook and Instagram.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Kenzie Williamson Photography.
Why did you get into/start this business?
Since I was 13, I have been experimenting with cameras, angles, and lighting. Only in the last two years, I have been more serious about it.
What is the goal of your business?
I want to just have fun with what I am doing!
What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
My grandpa passed away in 2010 and it took a huge toll on my entire family.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
The same! I am incredibly happy with where I am right now.
What do you always find yourself saying?
'Right?' or 'Seriously?'
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Happiness is your responsibility!
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My mom, easy. I have been very busy working and haven't gotten much time to see her. She is easily my favourite human being and any time spent with her is well worth it.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Support! It is amazing when someone you don't know chooses your product or service and gives you that little bit of support without realizing it.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Just being here! Where I am now is where I am proudest.
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Scott Stewart of Reelistic Outdoors! He makes awesome fishing videos, makes his own jigs and is a super nice guy overall!
My choice for the PrinceGeorgeNow In Focus spotlight is:
Scott Stewart!
