MJ, my mother. She has a heart of gold.
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Do I have to pick just one? Top 3: Chai Baba, Shawanda, & Nature's Fare. Ethically sourced and organic products? Yes, please!
Describe yourself in one word.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I would stay exactly where I am. Kelowna, BC is a beautiful place to be.
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Hiking! These mountains are a blessing.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Breaking my back while doing something I knew I shouldn’t have been doing was fairly embarrassing.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
There are so many things… The yoga teacher training at Tandava was very inspirational.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I have fond memories of going for frequent long walks with my childhood best friend.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I offer pro bono counselling and nutritional consulting.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
May all beings be happy, may all people be peaceful, may all beings be liberated.
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Crawford falls a Gem. Water and nature are so healing.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I see positive change happening right before my eyes. Last weekend I attended a Vegan Market AND a Mindfulness for Teens event. Woohoo!

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Here are three things that I am currently working towards:
1. Becoming a registered clinical counsellor.
2. Becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner
3. Writing and publishing a book.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
No matter what is going on in my life, meditating for two hours every day keeps me grounded.

Kendra Mulgrew Counselling
Why did you get into/start this business?
I originally got into healing for my own healing. As I gained knowledge and wisdom through training and my own experiences, I started to realize how inspired I was to hold space and share with others. I became a counsellor when the timing was right.
What is the goal of your business?
Kendra Mulgrew Counselling is a space where humans have the opportunity to clarify and reach their goals, including healing from trauma, gaining peace-of-mind, or gaining deeper connection.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Breaking my back in 2014 was a life-changer. Although it was challenging, I know it was a blessing in disguise.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would do things the exact same. Even though it has been challenging beyond belief, everything that has happened has led me to this beautiful place in space and time.
What do you always find yourself saying?
"We are Blessed."
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
When you don't know what to do, do nothing.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I would choose to spend it with friends who are scattered around the world.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
The community is so important to me. We're all here with each other, for each other.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Coming out of near-death illness to go on to find balance and become a counsellor.
