In Focus is our gift to the community. A way for us to help show our recognition for the people, businesses and organizations that help make our city great. The team at KelownaNow.com is passionate about this community and the people that make it amazing. We want to show our friends, neighbours, family and colleagues that we notice them and the fabulous things that they do.

    What is your name?
    Davis Yates.

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
    Born and raised in Kelowna!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
It's very tough to pick favourites, it's like picking your favourite child, you can't do it! If I had to pick it would be my family, my brother Dawson, mother Jackie and father Gary.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Calgary, Alberta! I've got a great group of friends here, shout out to Erik, Ian, Dejo, Devon, Jordan, and Ethan!

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
The Bohemian Cafe hands down. Huevos rancheros ft. a whole wheat bagel will make my day.

    What is your favourite activity?
Spikeball. I'm pretty good, as decided by my friends.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I fell flat on my face from the top of a set of bleachers in high school in front of a grad class of over 600 students. That was not fun.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
CRIS Adaptive Adventures. Douglas Canning, Sonja Nordman and I along with the CRIS team started the Polar Bear Dip, now in it's 5th year! If you're looking for a hangover cure on January 1st head down to Tug Boat bay and jump in the water for a good cause.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
To improve the average mental health of people, specifically adolescents and people in their early 20s.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
    Spikeball.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Adoption of government policy that makes Kelowna attractive to startup technology companies like Get In The Loop or BananaTag. As well as larger established technology companies like Google or Microsoft.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I didn't have a name for the first three months of my life, my parents called me 'Baby Burger.'

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest)
LinkedIn. Message me here and I will respond!

What is the name of your business/organization?
    Remarked.

Why did you get into/start this business?
It's so hard for business students to dress professionally at an affordable price.

What is the goal of your business?
To ensure that every student, regardless of economic situation, has the apparel they need to achieve what they've always wanted to achieve.

What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
Determining what's important to me and my values in life.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
    Nothing.

What do you always find yourself saying?
    'That being said'

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
    RiFF RAFF.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I finished El Camino de Santiago in Spain.

Tamara Ebl. She's has given more to the business program on campus than anyone else I know.

Marina Costello. She's the VP of Academics for the Management Student Association (MSA) at UBCO.
