Driven
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
If I could go anywhere in the world right now, I would love to be on a beach in Bali!
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
I have equal love for hiking and enjoying a glass of wine out on a patio. It's all about balance!
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Embarrassing things don't really happen to people who don't get embarrassed! I try not to take life too seriously and know that nothing is permanent.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Last month, Carolily organized a charity photo shoot for some of the women at Karis Support Society. The ladies were treated to a day of pampering, had their hair and makeup done, and then had a photo shoot! It was so inspiring to hear their stories of recovery and to meet such strong, beautiful women. It is amazing what can be overcome when women have a support system and the desire to better their lives!
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My brother and I were extremely fortunate growing up. We had two loving parents and were lucky enough to travel frequently as a family. Every winter, we would go to Kona, Hawaii for a few weeks and the memories we made there will always be dear to me. From exploring the volcanoes, to quiet days on the beach, I couldn't pick one memory to be my favorite!
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
We at Carolily think it is so important to give back to the community! This year, our charities of choice are Karis Support Society and Hole 72. In the past, we have also supported Mamas for Mamas, Cyrus Centre, Okanagan Boys & Girls Club and the Kelowna Women's Shelter.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
If I could change one thing, it would be that people have more patience and tolerance for one another.
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
If I want to sneak away for some alone time, I'll often take my pup, Emerson, up Knox early in the morning. It's the best start to the day!
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would love to see Kelowna continue to embrace the arts & culture community we are beginning to cultivate. Opera Kelowna, the ballet, the art galleries, the theater, I hope to see more amazing organizations like these in the future.
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The business community in Kelowna is amazing and so supportive! I've also loved seeing the increase in trendy restaurants.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
While I don't refer to it as a bucket list, three things I want to do are…
– Go sky diving
– Visit Indonesia
– Earn a spot of Forbe's Top 30 Under 30 List
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I love powerlifting and have eleven tattoos.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Facebook, Instagram or email (danielle@carolily.com)
What is the name of your business/organization?
Carolily Finery
Why did you get into/start this business?
My Mom and I started Carolily two and a half years ago with the desire to inspire and empower women through our handcrafted jewelry.
What is the goal of your business?
We want to inspire others to embrace their individuality and all those perfect imperfections that make us unique!
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
My biggest struggle has been my age. When discussing business, I find that people become less interested when they learn I'm under 30. While this is frustrating, I have always been motivated by people telling me I can't do something!
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I don't have any regrets in life. All of the events that have happened in my life have gotten me to where I am today, so I wouldn't change a thing!
What do you always find yourself saying?
I wouldn't say I have a catch phrase, but when I asked my friends what I say often, they said that I'm always positive (and that I curse a lot!).
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Choose happiness, unconditionally"- An affirmation I took from my favorite book, "The Untethered Soul" but Michael Sinclair
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I would love to spend a day with Sophia Amoruso, owner of Nasty Gal and author of "#girlboss". Current controversy aside, her book inspired Mom and me to start our company and to never take no as an answer. She's a badass business woman and I would love to pick her brain!
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Supporting local allows you to support someone's dream and I think that is such a beautiful thing to be able to do.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment has been being nominated for the Top 40 Under 40 in Kelowna!

At Carolily Finery, we design and handcraft everything in our studio in West Kelowna. We utilize freshwater pearls, semi precious stones, sterling silver and other fine materials. While we have all of our collections available online, we also host events throughout the year so people can try our pieces on and shop in person. We create custom pieces for those who want a one of a kind treasure!
