    Meet Christine, she is originally from Armstrong and has lived in the Okanagan since 1992. 



    Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
    My husband and my daughters. They encourage me to chase my dreams.

    What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
    Calowna Costume. They are my favourite because our minds think so much alike. They have a wonderful staff.

    Describe yourself in one word.
    Creative.

    If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
    World Bodypainting festival in Austria to compete in a Bodypainting category.

    What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
    Shopping.

    What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
    Accidentally giving my self a black face paint mustache while working a long shift and proceed to chat with people and kids for hours before I noticed. That is the only PG that I can share. 😉



    What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
    Being asked to showcase my work at events. My daughters talk about me and my work with such proudness. And talk about following in my footsteps. Knowing others also see my work as breathtaking is such a fulfilling feeling in my heart.

    Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
    My favourite memories from my childhood is having a solo in figure skating showcases. In Nakusp where I was born.

    Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
    I’m on the Jess 4 kids committee. We raise money to help get schools up to sovereign lake Nordic Centre. Giving kids a chance to learn how to cross country ski.

    If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
    I would make medical attention free to everyone.

    Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
    Myra canyon. I love biking the KVR

    Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
    Kelowna has really stepped up its game for festivals in the past ten years. So I would love to see that continue.

    What do you think makes Kelowna great?
    The sun and sand



    What are 3 things on your bucket list?
    1. Travel the world
    2. Go on a cruise
    3. Drive across Canada in a motor home.

    Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
    I don’t like most fruits.

    How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
    Facebook and Instagram I love posting pictures and encouraging other to chase their dreams.

    What is the name of your business/organization?
    Creative works by Christine.

    Why did you get into/start this business?
    I really wanted to be my own boss. And a close friend had just started out Facepainting and encourage me to give it a try. That was eight years ago. I love seeing a persons face after I have painted them. The mirror reveal is my favourite part.

    What is the goal of your business?
    To one day be hired to teach face painting around the world.

    What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
    I live with an anxiety disorder. And get really overwhelmed fast so learning to handle that and My family and work has been the biggest struggle. I’m very lucky to have a wonderful husband and support of family in Armstrong.

    If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
    I would do it all the same again for sure.

    What do you always find yourself saying?
    You can do anything you put your mind to.

    Tell us your best piece of life advice.
    Don’t give up on your dreams just keep moving.

    If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
    Avi Ram from skin wars. I would love to pick his brain. He is a wonderful artist and a very kind person.

    Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
    Keeping jobs in our community and helping other entrepreneurs is key to building communities.

    What has been your proudest accomplishment?
    My children.
