Hwy 3 closed until the afternoon for avalanche control work

As we’ve seen so many times this winter, avalanche control work has closed a major BC Interior highway.

This time, it’s Hwy 3 that’s been shut down near the Kootenay Pass as crews do work to keep the area safe for travellers.

The closure will last until 1 pm.

Drive BC says the only detour is via Hwy 3A and the Kootenay Bay Ferry, but the detour takes nearly as long as the closure is expected to last.
