UPDATE: Hwy 1 reopens north of Hope

(UPDATE: Jan. 7 @ 6:45 am) – Hwy 1 has reopened between Hope and Boston Bar.

It closed down on Monday afternoon after a serious accident and remained shut down to traffic for more than 12 hours.

A man in his 70s from northern BC died in the crash.

(Original story: Jan. 6 @ 3:55 pm) – Drive BC is reporting that Hwy 1 is closed in both directions between Hope and Boston Bar…

According to Drive BC, the road is shut down by American Creek Road and Parklane Drive.

An assessment is currently in progress, but there is no estimated time of reopening.

Travellers should consider using Hwy 5 if they were planning on making it to the coast.
