    UPDATE: Hwy 1 reopens east of Golden

    (UPDATE: Dec. 11 @ 9:40 am) – Hwy 1 is once again open to traffic east of Golden.

    A stretch of the highway was closed this morning due to rockfall, which left rocks on the road between Golden Donald Upper Road and the West Boundary of Yoho National Park.

    (Original story: Dec. 11 @ 7:08 am) – Hwy 1 remains closed in both directions due to rockfall east of Golden. 

    Drive BC said there are rocks on the road between Golden Donald Upper Road and the West Boundary of Yoho National Park for 18.8 km.

    There are no detours available. 

    Workers are on sight and assessing the road. 

    Live cameras are already showing a considerable build-up of traffic.
