Drive carefully, Prince George.

Environment Canada has recently announced winter storm warnings for Highway 97 Pine Pass.

According to Environment Canada, the poor road conditions stem from strong northerly winds that are gusting anywhere from 40 to 60 km/h.

According to Drive B.C., Highway 97 North and Highway 16 West are also experiencing poor visibility due to a combination of snow and wind.

Low visibility, slippery conditions and blowing snow from Bednesti to Prince George can be expected from both directions on Highway 16.

Both directions on Highway 97 are also very hazardous.

Compacted snow has caused slippery sections from Stoner to Prince George and blowing snow can be expected from Prince George to Salmon Valley.

The highways currently remain open however, hazardous conditions should be expected.

Environment Canada is advising against any non-essential travel until conditions improve.
