Highway Conditions for the Easter Long Weekend

If you are planning on travelling this Easter long weekend, be prepared to run into winter like conditions along the Coquihalla Highway.

According to DriveBC, conditions along Highway 5 are fairly good, but motorists can expect to see anywhere from five to 10 cm of snowfall near the summit. Periods of snow are expected Thursday evening from Hope to Merritt and snow may be seen at the lower elevations overnight.

Rain showers are also in the forecast as well as windy conditions, which could reduce visibility in some areas. More rain is in the forecast for the rest of the weekend, but by Monday conditions are expected to clear up.

While snow is expected on the Coquihalla Highway only rain is in the forecast for the Okanagan Connector. Motorists may encounter rain showers Thursday evening and into Friday morning and again on Sunday. On Monday conditions should be clear along this stretch of the highway.

Avoid leaving at peak travel times and leave plenty of room between yourself and other vehicles. For the latest information on highway conditions visit the DriveBC website.
