A long-time resident of High Level, Alta. has said that he has no intention of leaving his home or pets.

Roy Feher has lived in the town for 32 years and estimated that there are three or four other residents who have decided to stay behind after most of the town evacuated yesterday.

A state of local emergency was declared for the town of High Level May 20 and since the wildfire has grown to an estimated 92,000 hectares.

Feher, whose home is in the centre of town, said that power has been restored temporarily this morning.

"I don't feel like there is much of a threat to the houses, I think it (the fire) is moving away from the town," said Feher.

Alberta Wildfire reports that the Chuckegg Creek Fire remains approximately 3 kilometers southwest of High Level.

"I can't even see it (fire or red skies) from my house. It looks normal… sometimes it looks a little red toward the evening."

Yesterday the BC Wildfire Service supplied Alberta Wildfire with 230 firefighters to help to try to contain the flames. Adding to the 110 firefighters that are working to establish and maintain protection of homes and the 76 firefighters that are working alongside the 24 helicopters.

The cause of the wildfire, that has been classified as out of control, is currently under investigation.
