The B.C. Passenger Transportation Board (PTB) has ruled in favor of eliminating and reducing Greyhound service routes.
The favour has been passed due to the significant drop greyhound has seen in recent years.

Even though Greyhound claims that they have reduced costs in a number of areas, factors such as urbanization, increased competition and recent reductions in oil prices which prompt people to travel by car, have all lead to the applications approval.
According to a report, PTB requires that route eliminations will occur no sooner than May 31, 2018.
Greyhound Canada is expected to respect this timeline.

The following routes will be discontinued:
- Victoria to Nanaimo
- Prince Rupert to Prince George (which includes the Prince George – Fort St. James route)
- Prince George to Alberta Border & Highway 16 (which includes the Prince George to Valemount route)
- Dawson Creek to Prince George
- Dawson Creek to Whitehorse (which includes the Dawson Creek – Fort Nelson route and the Fort Nelson – Yukon Border & Highway 97 route)
- UBC (University Endowment Lands) – Whistler
- Victoria to Vancouver

Until the elimination date, operations will remain as usual.
In instances where eliminations and route flexibility is permitted sooner, Greyhound Canada is expected to base that decision on passenger demand and will provide customers with sufficient notice for route changes
“We will continue to provide fair and open communications with our customers to ensure that adequate notice is given for any planned route changes,” confirmed Stuart Kendrick, Senior Vice President, Greyhound Canada.
“We appreciate that these changes will be difficult for our customers and staff.”
Greyhound is currently entering into partnership agreements to continue service for freight customers.
