  • Great Okanagan Beer Fest eyeing September date for 2020 edition

If COVID-19 didn’t exist, there would be thousands of beer lovers in Kelowna and beyond anxiously awaiting the Great Okanagan Beer Festival this weekend.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case, and like many popular summer events, the GOBF will not be taking place on its scheduled date of Saturday, May 9.

It doesn’t mean the event won’t happen in 2020 though, as organizers have not fully pulled the plug on this year’s festival.

They’re currently working with the City of Kelowna to explore an alternative date in September for the 2020 GOBF.

“Our top priority is the safety of the community, all of our partners and our guests,” said a release from the festival.

“We will keep you informed as we move forward through each stage of this pandemic as well as our planning phases.”

If you have a ticket for the GOBF 2020 main event that was supposed to take place at Waterfront Park on Saturday, it’ll remain valid for the new date in September if there is one.

If not, the ticket will be valid for next year’s festival in May 2021.
