Early Monday evening, B.C. Wildfire Service responded to a six-hectare grass fire on Osoyoos Indian Band territory and approximately four-kilometres east of Oliver, B.C.

Three initial attack crews responded to the fire with two tankers and ten personnel now currently on site. Air support is also assisting. Crews will be working overnight to suppress the fire.

The BC Wildfire Service is currently responding to a ~6 ha #BCwildfire ~4 km east of #OliverBC. 10 BCWS personnel have been deployed with support from airtankers. The Oliver Fire Department is also currently assisting with response and suppression efforts.

The fire is suspected to be human-caused, but Fire Origin and Cause are being sent to evaluate and confirm the potential cause.

B.C. Wildfire says that the fire did not reach any timber and the lack of fire fuel combined with the cooler temperatures overnight will assist with suppressing the fire.

No homes or buildings are being threatened by the fire at this time.
