Did someone say donair? Yeah we did!

North City Donair & Poutine is a recent addition to Prince George and is serving a much needed void in the donair community. The restaurant is quaint, small and friendly and has absolutely mouth-watering food!

On that note- did you know the donair is Canadian? It first made its way to Canada from Turkey by a man named Peter Gamoulakos, who perfected the new variety of the Turkish gyro.

Since the 1970s Canada’s love affair with the imported cuisine has taken off exponentially. So much so that donairs are the official food in the city of Halifax.

Just like back east, North City Donair & Poutine delivers a nostalgic hit of saucy, meaty goodness, complete with a warm and soft wrap. Patrons have a huge selection of classic and contemporary combos to choose from, catering to individual palettes of savoury or sweet.

PrinceGeorgeNow team members stopped in for a bite this week. We have some serious donair fans on our hands, with pretty high expectations. These people cherish the Halifax classic like it’s near and dear to their heart.

We sampled a few dishes, one being the classic beef donair loaded with homemade tzatziki sauce, while a colleague had the mountain-high, gravylicious poutine. You can even order a little bit of both!

If that doesn’t get you salivating, we don’t know what will.

Seriously though, the poutine is out-of-this-world good. You will be craving another hit in no time.
