Lacey has travelled all the way from Iran to Vancouver, where she is waiting to live in a home for the first time in her life. She is a quiet, medium energy girl who is very fit and athletic. She would do great in agility training and is always happy to go on hikes, or just relax with you at home.

Lying by your side or at your feet is her favourite pastime. There is always a smile on her face and a song in her heart whenever she is around people. Her face literally lights up when she sees you after an absence. But, despite her enthusiasm about being reunited, she is still polite enough to know not to jump up on you. Lacey is a well-behaved and respectful girl who will make a wonderful and very devoted companion. If you make a difference in her life, she will surely make one in yours.

Her favourite things are, well, everything. Lacey loves going for hikes, chewing on a bone, frolicking in the water, chewie treats – the list goes on. But, mostly, she just loves being with people and just hanging out.

    Lacey’s Story

At the very young age of 6 weeks, Lacey was found abandoned and all alone, tied to a tree in Iran. She had been for several days, exposed to the hot sun, dehydrated and very hungry and afraid. As if that wasn't bad enough, other stray dogs had been terrorizing her, and when she was found she was covered in bite marks. Her rescuers say that she was too small to protect herself, and it took a week after her rescue for her to stop shaking in fear.

But that nightmare is all behind her. Now Lacey is a healthy, happy dog. Perhaps because she came so close to death, she finds a great deal of joy in life.

What her Foster Caregiver Has to Say

Lacey’s rescue is still in progress. The only available foster home for Lacey has cats and because she is not good with them, Lacey lives outside in a heated garage with an attached yard. She is kept warm, is well fed, and gets to go for hikes with the other dogs in the home. However, she is alone most of the time and whines herself to sleep at night.

Her foster home says that Lacey gets along great with the other dogs in the home, but is still somewhat fearful of unfamiliar dogs when out on a leash because of her past experience. Lacey will need a dog-experienced to care for her and train her to make her feel more comfortable.

Lacey is available for adoption, or for a new foster home.
