What better way to celebrate the end of a week than with a bunch of food trucks?
Foodie Fridays are back but at a different location!
Due to on-going construction, the program will be held at Canada Games Plaza in front of the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.
Food Fridays will be held each Friday from June 22 to Aug. 31, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Foodie Fridays allows licensed sidewalk and mobile vendors to sell their prepared food on Fridays during the months of June, July, and August. Last year, more than 5,000 people attended the event for some pre-weekend outdoor refreshment. This year, we will again be featuring live music through the lunch hour,” says Jen Tkachuk, City Events Coordinator.
“The development next to City Hall precludes us from using that space due to the construction activity and insufficient electrical power for vendors, but we expect to return to that site when circumstances allow it.”
This outdoor food court was first initiated in response to suggestions from local businesses as a way to draw more people into the downtown core.
Last year, the program was recognized at the B.C. Economic Development Awards as best community project.

“The idea was first brought to the attention of City staff by local businesses wishing to add a new dimension to the City’s downtown to complement our already fantastic restaurants and cafés,” says Tkachuk.
“Foodie Fridays helps to make use of our fantastic downtown outdoor venues, and give the thousands of people who work in the area, as well as residents and tourists, a pleasant, social, outdoor place to go for a casual lunch.”
The City encourages any food truck operators, restaurant operators or licensed food vendors who are interested in participating to contact the City of Prince George at jen.tkachuk@princegeorge.ca.
