At the KelownaNow studio, Tara went over some of the many different types of extensions out there, and who they work best for.
Take a look at some of the tried and true methods and techniques, as well as a brand new one.
“I love doing extensions, they just bring so much more to colours and cuts and styles and transitions and allow you to do things you couldn’t normally do,” Tara says.
She comments that most people may not even realize how many different types of extensions there are. From finer hair to thicker hair, to wanting more fullness versus layering, colouring and styling, there are some great options for everyone.

Tara adds that it’s important to know the difference between them and why your stylist might recommend one over the others. She urges people to ask lots of questions before your stylist installs extensions in order to prevent damage or cause further damage to your hair.
First of all there’s the true OGs of extensions — the clip-in. Tara says although these have seen a decline in popularity, you might be surprised where and when and by who these are still used by. Some of your favourite celebs may be rocking clip-ins without you even being able to tell the difference.

They’re a great option for brides and their wedding party, or for special events where you just want something a little extra in your hair without the commitment.
In the same vein, we also have what’s known as the Halo, which you wear like a headband and curl the locks for an effortless and instant look.
Tara also goes over tape-ins, fusions, and k-tips. Finally, Tara shows up the newest tech in extensions , UV extensions. They are amazingly seamless, damage-free and closely mimic the way your hair naturally falls.
