Those who reside in the alert area should prepare in the event that an evacuation is required.
Taking the proper precautions to prevent damage to home, property and self should include:
- moving equipment and farm implements to higher ground
- making arrangements for pets and livestock to be moved to safe locations
- gathering important papers in water-tight containers and move valuables to alternate locations
- preparing a 72-hour personal survival kit for you and your family
The public is reminded to exercise extreme caution near rivers and streams. High water-flows can cause bank erosion and instability, and currents can be unpredictable.
People should avoid all streams and bodies of water as levels rise.
