“A major part of this project was the extension of the cycle track that starts over at Cawston Avenue and that connects to the city’s growing bike network, as well as aging water utility improvements,” said Todd DeGruchy, project manager.

“Separating people on bikes from those walking and driving improves safety and the experience for all.”

Over the past few months, this section of Ethel Street got its separated cycle tracks put in, a new sidewalk on the west side of the road, LED street lighting, street trees, boulevards and more.

There have also been modifications to the traffic signal at Ethel Street and Sutherland Avenue.

Crews will complete the final paving, pavement markings, landscaping and finishing work in the spring.

Construction on the next phase of the Ethel Street Active Transportation Corridor, between Cadder Avenue and Rose Avenue, will start in the spring as well.
