(UPDATE: @ 9:30 pm) – Drive BC is reporting that Highway 97 south of Lake Country is open to single lane traffic.
A vehicle accident that involved downed power lines had closed the highway completely since Tuesday evening.
Delays and congestion are expected.
(UPDATE: @ 6 pm) – According to local RCMP, BC Hydro crews are on the scene of the accident and working on the downed power lines.
However, it's anticipated Highway 97 will remain at least partially closed for the next three hours.
A vehicle accident is responsible for the downed lines just south of Beaver Lake Road in Lake Country.

(Original Story @ 5 pm) – Motorists driving to or from Lake Country on their evening commute will want to plan for delays.
A vehicle accident invloving downed power lines has closed Highway 97 in both direction just south of Beaver Lake Road.
Details on the accident are scare, but northbound traffic is being advised to take John Hindle Drive while southbound traffic should take Glenmore Road.
Drive BC is reporting that crews are on scene and an assessment is in progress, but no estimated time reopening has been shared.
