This is some breaking news!

  • Dine Around Okanagan (pandemic edition) kicks off today

How does a bison burger, prawn risotto, a flat iron steak, Nashville chicken or giant chocolate chip cookie in fudge sauce sound?

All of them, and much, much more, are on the menu for Dine Around Okanagan, which kicks off today at 50 restaurants up and down the Valley.

</who>One of the Dine Around Okanagan options at The Train Station Pub in Kelowna is a bison burger.

Dine Around will obviously look and feel different this year because of the pandemic.

However, the annual event is surging ahead until March 7 with eateries offering special three-course meals priced at $15, $25, $35, $45 and $55 and both dine-in and take-out options.

The take-out inclusion is new this year due to COVID-19.

Dine Around also features a recommended BC wine, beer and-or cocktail pairing for each course.

Even with the pall of a pandemic, more than 8,000 are expected to Dine Around by either eating in the restaurant or ordering take out.

Usually Dine Around is three weeks and stops short of Valentine's Day to encourage people to eat out in the traditionally slow stretch between New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day.

The adjusted timing, take-out option and Valentine's Day inclusion gives Dine Around more of a chance to be a success in the midst of a pandemic.

By the way, the aforementioned bison burger is on the Dine Around menu of The Train Station Pub in Kelowna.

That flat iron steak can be cut into at 19 Okanagan Grill+Bar at Two Eagles Golf Course in West Kelowna.

And Freddy's Microbrew Pub will be serving up that prawn risotto, Nashville chicken supreme and giant chocolate chip cookie.
