  • UPDATE: Crash blocks lanes of Hwy 1 near Kamloops after Coquihalla reopens

(UPDATE: Dec. 2 @ 9 am) – The Coquihalla has reopened, but there is another highway issue to be aware of.

DriveBC says the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) is closed westbound between Kamloops and Monte Creek.

However, traffic can detour around the incident via the Lafarge Road off ramp.

(UPDATE: Dec. 2 at 6:49 am): The road has now reopened.

    DriveBC warned of delays, however.

(Original story: Dec. 2 at 5:47 am): The Coquihalla Highway is closed in both directions in Merritt.

DriveBC, the province’s official traffic monitor, said there has been a “vehicle incident” this morning.

The vehicle is being recovered, according to DriveBC, and all lanes are blocked.

The precise stretch of the road affected is exit 286 to exit 290.
