(UPDATE: 7:35 a.m.) – Hwy 5 (the Coquihalla) is now fully open in both directions.
The road had previously closed northbound after a vehicle fire on Monday night.
DriveBC warns motorists that delays should be expected due to congestion.
(UPDATE: July 31 @ 12:20 a.m.) – Witnesses to the collision, Mark and Katherine Streit, posted a video on Facebook documenting the incident that occurred on Highway 5 leading northbound from Hope to Merritt.
On their Facebook post, they report that the collision occurred approximately 42 kilometres northeast of Hope between two semi-trucks at around 9:30 p.m. resulting in a "huge fireball."
"We are praying for those involved in the accident, hoping there are no fatalities," they added.
DriveBC has not yet provided a time of opening.

Drive BC reported the incident advising drivers should expect delays as a result of the incident.

Twitter user, Kamscan, reported a fatality at the scene. However, that information has not yet been confirmed by RCMP.
Drive BC has not provided an estimated time of opening and suggests taking an alternate route. An assessment of the situation is currently in progress.
