Congratulations to this month's winner, Kirah S. Keep watching Out of Office with Kelowna Toyota for your chance to win!
In honour of our family’s first experience going “Out of Office” with Kelowna Toyota, we wanted to do something that’s been on our bucket list for a few years now and that truly epitomizes the fun there is to be had during a BC winter. Our family drove the brand new, Toyota Highlander to Lambly Lake for an ice-fishing excursion.
The video below captures the essence of family fun in our serene natural playground here in British Columbia.
The drive up the mountain requires a good set of snow tires and All Wheel Drive. We felt especially safe and capable on the winter roads with our Toyota and enjoyed the fully-loaded features for the one hour drive each way.

Besides the wonder of the beauty all around us from the clear, blue skies to the white, blanketed evergreens around, I was surprised to see many families on the lake enjoying this activity. It felt like a club I’d only just discovered. Everyone is warm and welcoming, happy to share advice and celebrate the day’s catch. It’s easy to stay socially distanced and enjoy the wide-open spaces out there. The anxieties and troubles of daily life are cast with the line to the bottom of the lake.
You can expect to find an abundance of perch and rainbow trout in Lambly Lake, biting at mealworms about 12-18 inches from the bottom. With a campfire going and family around, it really doesn’t matter what the day’s catch is, you’ll leave feeling lighter and happier all the same.

It’s important to bundle up and be prepared for any kind of weather as it can be quite different than the weather in town on the same day. Keeping warm and being prepared is the key to enjoying yourself.
We recommend a fire, a reliable auger, a sled to carry your belongings across the lake, s’mores and hotdogs, the right fishing gear, sunglasses and chapstick, and an emergency kit.
