We want everything and we want it now. This pulls us into the idea that instant gratification is worth more than the work it takes to follow through and show up, again and again.
Consistency is often overlooked and undervalued as a way of being. In my world, the main reason I hold someone in high regard is because of their consistent character.

It's a trait I admire and find inspiring to witness.
I'm always on the hunt for simple habits to try and implement in order to be more consistent at work, with my family and as a person.
Check out these three ways to be more consistent this week:
1. Wake up around the same time every day.
Whether you're working or have the day off to do your own thing, get up and start your day in a similar way each day. When I say wake up 'around' the same time this also gives you some leeway to have what I love to call a 'slow start' once in a while.
This might feature you and your favourite person in lounge mode with a morning coffee. Consistency isn't rigid, it's a responsibility and also an understanding that your consistency reflects your character.
2. Answer. Your. Emails. And. Messages.
If you have a job where emails and messages are involved, answer them. If it's about something at work that isn't very pressing, answer. If it's about something that is challenging, answer. If it's something you don't know about, answer.
This shows you care to consistently communicate. By no means am I saying you have to answer immediately but be prompt about it. A simple message can take three minutes, save you a pile of grief down the road and will add to your capacity to be consistent.
3. Be your word.

The next time you open your mouth it's an opportunity to create consistency. Syncing up what you say with the way you live is something you have control over and the single most potent way to literally be your word. The next opportunity you get to act on it, do it. I promise it feels good.
