An Okanagan-based coffee roaster that uses locally sourced materials was recognized at the Hopwired Festival national competition in Vancouver recently.

Tug 6 Craft Coffee Roasters won gold in the ‘Best Espresso’ category for their Beach City Cruiser Espresso Tug 6 and the company Ethiopian blend also won ‘Best Coffee’.

Owner John Oughtred said they were “honoured and humbled” to win both categories and it was a great feeling to be recognized with so many other great companies competing.

"We are proud to bring these awards home to the Okanagan again after Canoe won best espresso last year,” he added. 

“The Okanagan is gaining a reputation for specialty coffee and we couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the success."
